Physical Therapy & Occupational/Hand Therapy

At Lexington Medical Center Irmo, our physical and occupational therapists provide treatments to help alleviate pain, and restore and maintain function for patients with a variety of medical conditions. These goals are accomplished through the use of therapeutic exercise, implementation of modalities and manual therapy techniques. We strive to have patients back to their desired functional levels as soon as possible. Our therapists use a patient-focused approach with treatment. During the first visit, each patient is evaluated and an individual program is developed to achieve maximum recovery. All patients receive one-on-one care, ensuring that they have the clinician’s full attention during their appointments.

We treat most musculoskeletal and neurological conditions including, but not limited to:

• Orthopaedic conditions (bone and joint injuries, sprains and strains)

• Post-operative rehabilitation

• Post-total joint rehabilitation

• Various neurological conditions including, but not limited to: stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillan-Barre, Myasthenia Gravis, Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, and others.

• Specialized certification program for Parkinson’s Disease : LSVT Big

• Spinal care

• Sports injuries

• Work-related injuries

• Balance dysfunction

• Vestibular dysfunction

• Hand and wrist injuries

• Upper extremity orthotics

When appropriate, we utilize modalities such as dry needling, kinesiotaping, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, ultrasound and electrical stimulation in conjunction with treatment.
